Occupation: Manager Promotions and Marketing I’d go back for ‘take out,’ but there wasn’t a thing appealing about the décor or atmosphere except the smiling, friendly wait staff. We took the tres leches home for a midnight snack. The portions are big! I had to bring half my dinner home and couldn’t even take a bite of dessert. No one kept us waiting or wanting for anything. In fact, they were the best frijoles I ever had! Our service was friendly and timely. I love black beans, but they only had frijoles – totally Mexican cuisine. These could be ordered individually or as a dinner with rice and beans as accompaniment. The menu offered numerous types of burritos, tacos, flautas and tortas with everything from fish, white meat chicken, ground beef, steak, tongue, pork and shredded beef (barbaqoa). Another wall had a mural of a Mexican city. On one wall was a painted mural of a bold and colorful cornucopia. The atmosphere was super-casual – picnic style – with paper plates, plastic forks, plastic menus the order of the day. There were streamers hung from wall to wall made with green, red, and white construction paper. Inside, the décor was decidedly Mexican family festive. The back of the restaurant had many tables with umbrellas for outdoor dining. The parking lot was packed when we arrived, yet there was still one table available in this tiny restaurant on Lake Worth Rd. We always find that we have a doggie bag, and my other sons were happy for that. I ended the evening with a piece of flan, always good. The green salsa (Salsa Verde) is my all-time favorite.

I also had yellow rice, and all the salsas are great. My son had the Fajitas Combinadas with traditional rice and beans and also had a nice side salad. The tonque had a different texture and the taste was just okay. Some were in flour tortillas and some in corn tortillas. I ordered all my favorite tacos, Tacos de Carne Asada (grilled Steak), and desebrada (shredded Beef). You can tell they take a lot of pride in their work. The service is always friendly and helpful. Neighborhood eatery with charm and no AIRS about it. This isn’t the Ritz!!!! That’s part of the allure. There is a Jiffy Lube and an Auto Junk Yard on the same corner. The restaurant and taco truck is just off a very busy city corner in west Lake Worth.
